From Chanukah to the Solstice: Going Fallow in the Shmita Year
November 30 - December 21, 2021
In the temperate world, the earth is moving into a time of quiet as the days grow shorter and darker. It is also Shmita, a year to let the land lay fallow, reduce economic activity, and resist urgency. It is a time of stillness and introspection. During Chanukah and the Solstice, we can reconnect with ourselves, taking in much needed spiritual nourishment, so that we can emerge renewed and ready to serve the world.
In four weekly sessions, Rabbi Robin Damsky guides us in melody, earth-based practice, learning, and meditation to discover what this season can bring to us. During this series, we will tune to the interplay of natural cycles and the Jewish calendar, tend to our inner selves, engage in a process of renewal, and prepare to connect with the world anew.
We invite you to join us regardless of your experience with meditation or text study. This journey is designed as a four part series, and you are welcome to join us for any or all of it.
