Shabbat Shuva & Yom Kippur Getaway
September 25 - 29, 2020
Like this year as a whole, this will be a distinct Shabbat Shuva and Yom Kippur at Isabella Freedman.
The trees and the lake and the setting remains beautiful.
The food is local, kosher, and delicious.
But we’re in a covid-world, so a few things will be different:
- Our capacity is limited by the number of rooms that have a private bath. So our capacity is much lower than usual.
- We have strict covid procedures in place. You can find details of them below, and we require you to do the following before you join us:
- Agree to and sign our COVID waiver which outlines what we are doing on campus now to protect the health and safety of our staff and guests.
- Have your temperature taken upon arrival.
- Fill out a short health questionnaire about the previous two weeks when you check in.
- Each family or group coming together will have a room with it’s own bathroom. Rooms are at a minimum double occupancy. We do offer a single room option if you are coming by yourself. If you have children (ages 5-15) and want to book another room so you have more space two of the children will be billed at the adult rate.
- Whereas usually Isabella Freedman offers a range of flavors in our davening, this year we are only offer one option. Davening will mostly be led by Rabbi Avram and Yael Mlotek. We’ll be outdoors and socially distanced (or in a big tent, and socially distanced, if it’s raining). Davening will be traditional and spirited, and we ask each of you to come with a sense of commitment, kavanah and ruach, as befits the moment.
We have to charge a not-insubstantial cost, because our costs are indeed significant, and because we lose scale economies because of covid (the costs of our mashgichim, just to give one example, are exactly the same as they would be if we had two or three times as many people, hence the cost per person is two or three times higher). Hazon & Isabella Freedman came through our own organizational near-death experience this year, and so we apologize that we can’t easily offer discounts or scholarships but please be in touch directly if you need one.
For any questions about the program, please be in touch with our Registrar, registrar@hazon.org. We will be happy to assist you.
Finally – shana tova. We wish you a happy, healthy, peaceful and sustainable new year.
